Google Play has a section dedicated to data security. Google has announced a new privacy feature that requires app developers to provide more information about how their apps acquire, share, and secure users’ data.
This comes at a time when global privacy concerns are on the rise. Developers must finish this data security component for their apps by July 20th, according to Google. The most recent version of the app’s Data safety section will be displayed as app developers update their functionality or change their data handling policies.
Users and app developers have told Google that simply displaying the data an app collects without extra context isn’t enough. “Users want to know why their information is being gathered and if the developer will share it with third parties. Users also want to know how app developers protect user data once the software has been downloaded “It was stated.
The design was created by the tech behemoth to allow developers to explicitly designate what data is being collected and for what purpose. While some apps require specific information, others collect information that is optional, and users will now be able to see this option.
Users will also be able to see if the developer is sharing data with third parties thanks to this extra capability. When an app asks for permission to access ‘your location,’ for example, users can quickly and simply decide whether they want to grant it for one-time use, only while using the app, or forever. People can go to the Android Privacy dashboard to review data access by apps for sensitive permissions like camera, microphone, or location data, according to Google.
