Who is Graymatics?
Graymatics is a cognitive multimedia analytics company, which has developed a massively scalable AI- based platform for deep multimedia analytics. This platform has been deployed for CCTV based Video Analytics solutions to solve a range of challenges for industries including smart cities, smart transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing, building management, retail, banks, hospitals, and factories.
What is Graymatics’ Vision and Mission?
- Vision: To transform all rich media content, devices, and sensors around the globe into compelling solutions that will make society safe and secure
- Mission: To create a highly scalable platform that transforms rich media content into an actionable data by building various innovative solutions around it
What is the history behind building such smart solutions?
While I (Abhijit Shanbhag, The President & CEO) was in the US, I observed that there were not much of video search and analytics tools. The rise of CCTVs in the urban and commercial landscape was leading to humongous video content generation which I decided to convert into machine-understandable data and offer a wide range of highly-useful solutions.
According to me,
“It became clear that an enormous opportunity existed; the opportunity to develop a highly scalable and adaptable cognitive platform, which is capable of conducting near real-time analysis of large video volumes.”
What kind of challenges can any area of operations overcome by using Graymatics services?
Following are a few strong use cases that Graymatics helps with its services:
Security and Surveillance
- Intrusion Detection: identifies unauthorized individuals entering restricted areas and trigger alerts
- Suspicious Activity Detection: identifies unusual behavior or objects, such as abandoned bags, in crowded areas.
- Facial Recognition: helps in identifying individuals on watchlists or tracking known persons of interest
- Object Tracking: enables tracking of objects or people across multiple cameras and locations
Public Safety
- Crowd Monitoring: detects crowd density and movement patterns during public events to ensure safety
- Emergency Response: identifies incidents such as accidents or fires and alerts relevant authorities
- Crime Prevention: helps law enforcement monitor public spaces and respond to criminal activities in real-time
Smart Cities

Can Graymatics enhance its core technology stack to customize it to suit the industry-specific need of clients?
Yes, our AI and ML system allows customization to meet industry- specific needs such as data preprocessing, feature extraction, model training, and customization.
How does Graymatics stand out from its’ competitors?
Graymatics offers a cloud platform and has built a highly scalable, versatile, and cognitive platform which can analyze huge video content volumes in almost real-time and turn the content into machine analysis data for future usage. It offers several competitive advantages over other products available in the market which make its platform the best-in-class. It offers the highest breadth of AI-powered video analytics in the industry along with optimized middleware to support the maximum number of high-performance AI analytics processes within a much smaller computer hardware footprint. That makes Graymatics the brand with the lowest TCO for high-performance AI systems. Further, there is versatility of deployment options including edge, on premises, cloud, or hybrid edge-to-cloud. Its other USPs include components such as a sophisticated alert report engine, forensic search, and insightful dashboards. The Graymatics platform can also be seamlessly integrated with a mobile app.
What are your plans to take the company to the next level in the next 5 years?
We are committed to expanding our offerings beyond video analytics to encompass other rich media sensors, including audio sensors, which are already in advanced stages of development. With the increased adoption of AI worldwide, our goal is to make Video AI and multimedia AI accessible to users in more countries, fostering positive change through enhanced safety, sanitation and security. Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for growth, with a particular focus on expanding our presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Brazil in South America. By constantly innovating and expanding our offerings, we aim to drive meaningful transformation and empower organizations across the globe with state-of-the-art AI solutions.
